Distress Embroidery

Distress embroidery combines traditional machine embroidery with intentional aging. After the design is stitched, the threads are manually or mechanically frayed, pulled, and distressed. This creates a vintage texture that adds dimension and perceived value. It's a technique heavily used by high-end US streetwear brands like Gallery Dept and Rhude.

The distressed texture catches light differently than flat embroidery, creating visual depth. Combined with heavyweight fabric, it elevates a simple logo or design into something that looks and feels like a luxury piece. The intentional imperfection signals craftsmanship — it takes more skill to distress embroidery well than to keep it clean.
